Pass rush moves are like bullets. The more the better!

That’s why I've created a pass rush moves handbook. It's filled with elite interior & edge rushes so you never run out of ammo.

I hope you find it useful.

Edge rushes

Speed bull

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Sell speed: Bull rushes always work better if your opponent doesn’t see it coming. So get off the ball and take 2 hard steps upfield.
  2. Head under chin: On your 3rd step, drop your hips and put your head under the blockers chin. This will surprise your opponent and give you leverage.
  3. Extend & press: Lastly, extend violently and press your opponent into the QB

When to use

  • Use against patient blockers who don’t want to shoot their hands

Ghost rush

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Threaten your opponent: For the ghost rush to work, your opponent needs to feel threatened enough to shoot his hands.
  2. Dip under the punch: Once your opponent punches, simply dips under the punch.
  3. Carve the corner: Lastly, point the toe and get your hips turned to the QB for the sack!

When to use

  • Blockers who are aggressive and punch high are susceptible to the ghost rush

Stutter bull

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Fake in & out with head, shoulders & step: Jabbing in and out widens the blocker's hands and leaves their chest vulnerable
  2. Punch head and hands in blocker’s chest: Now that you have access to your opponent's chest, drive 3 points of contact into him to produce maximum force

When to use

  • This rush should be used against blockers who are threatened by inside moves because the stutter will open their chest and make them susceptible to the bull

Chop spin

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Sell speed: Grab green grass with your first two steps while keeping your pads down
  2. Chop to get vertical pads: The chop will get the blocker to commit to the speed rush and turn his pads vertical.
  3. Ice pick: The DE should imagine they have an ice pick in their and they are trying to jam it into the middle of the blocker's back.

When to use

  • If you are going against a tackle who likes to turn their hips this is a great move to use

Bull slip

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Punch the chest: First step is to make sure your hands are inside so you can control your opponent.
  2. Pull and point: Next, violently pull your hands inside and point your inside foot to the QB.
  3. Rip and reach: Insert the rip so your opponent can’t recover. Then reach with your outside hand to get your hips around to the QB and your hand on the ball.

When to use

  • Use against blockers who are patient with their hands and won't easily punch

Interior rushes

Chop club

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Chop the wrist: For the chop club to work, you need to get your opponent to turn his hips. Chopping the wrist is a great way to do this.
  2. Plant and torque: Next, plant your outside foot and torque your hips to generate power for your club.
  3. Club the inside shoulder: Last, throw your opponent off balance by clubbing his inside shoulder.

When to use

  • Use against aggressive blockers who have a tendency to turn their hips

Cross chop

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Threaten the blocker: Everything happens faster inside. All you need is one step to threaten the blocker and get him to shoot his hands.
  2. Chop the wrist: Always make sure to chop the blocker's wrist. It's the weakest point on a blockers arm and will give you control of their arm.
  3. Jump laterally: Once you've chopped now jump laterally off your first step. The jump makes you a moving target for the blocker.
  4. Grab and flip: Now grab the back of the blocker's shoulder pads and point your toe to the QB. This will help flip your hips and prevent the blocker from recovering.
  5. Tight swim Quickly swim to complete the rush. Keep the swim as close to the blocker as possible so he doesn't have space to recover.

When to use

  • Use against aggressive blockers who punch with low hands

Counter club

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Close distance: Make you’re opponent uncomfortable by taking away his cushion
  2. Trigger the hands: Get your opponent to shoot his hands by grabbing his outside shoulder
  3. Club the pit: Once your opponent triggers his punch, club his arm pit and finish with a quick swim.

When to use

  • Use against blockers with an aggressive punch

Pull slide

Steps (full breakdown here)

  1. Grab the pad: In order to execute the pull slide, close distance and grab a handful of his opponent's shoulder pad.
  2. Pull and point: Pull the outside pad and point the toe so you can get to the blocker’s edge while reducing surface area.
  3. Finish with a swim: Finish with a swim so your opponent can’t recover.

When to use

  • Use against blockers who are passive and don't shoot their hands
